We, the fagg*ts

In 2014 I won a scholarship to study the Intensive Master in Graphic Design at IED Madrid, for the final dissertation, I researched about queer theory in Judith Butler work, and hate speech. The brief was to find 26 slurs to insult homosexual men in Latin America and design typography statements to overturn the negative effect of the expression.


























In English language words such as faggot, fairy or pansy are common, in Spanish we have maricón,(literally fag) loca (a crazy woman) orroscón (a popular biscuit with rounded shape). This project proposes to use these words in the singular form of the first person, so as to cancel its pejorative use. Eg.: I am a faggot, so what?
